Decade

Manifesto

We do not have too little time. We waste a great deal of it.

Seneca, On the Shortness of Life

A decade is the unit that matters. A day is too short to see a change. A life is too long to plan. Ten years is long enough for almost anything and short enough to count: 3,650 days.

Attention compounds. What you give it to every day becomes what you are good at, what you care about and who you spend your time with. The feed knows this. It was built to collect the interest.

The problem is not the phone. The phone is a good tool. The problem is a handful of features built to keep you scrolling after you got what you came for: Reels, Shorts, Explore, suggested posts. Remove those and the phone is a tool again.

We keep the people. Messages, friends' posts, stories, posting. These are why you opened the app. They stay.

We count honestly. Your screen time is measured by your phone, not typed in by you. You see your own number. Your friends see it too, if you let them. Nobody wins by hiding.

No shame. Guilt does not change habits. A number, a week and friends who are in it with you do. The loser of a week is shown only to the people in the room, and a tie means nobody loses.

We are the opponent of the feed, not of the people who use it. We never ask for your passwords. Nothing you do inside Instagram or YouTube leaves your phone. We do not sell data and we do not show ads.

Decade is paid for by the people who use it, not by advertisers. That is the whole business model, and it is the only one that keeps us on your side.

The decade already started. It restarts every morning. Count the days.
